The most common questions about building and running your narrowcasting. New to Nawcast? Start with how it works.
Programs and templates
Open the program in the dashboard and drag the templates into the order you want. The new order is saved right away.
Edit the template and move the slider that sets how many seconds it is shown. Any value between 3 and 60 seconds is possible.
Open the program and click Edit on that template. Change the content in the editor while the preview shows the result, then save your changes.
Open the program and drag a template from the available templates into the program content. Fill it in and add it to the program.
Yes. Open the program details and set the program defaults. Every template follows them unless it has its own font or background.
Yes, without restarting anything. The runner reloads the program after it has played the last template, so your changes appear at the start of the next round.
Media library
Add it on the Media library page: upload an image, link an image from the web, save a color or add a YouTube video. Then open the template and select it as the picture or the background.
A template keeps the medium you picked when you filled it in. Open each template where you want the new photo and select it again.
Data sources
Create a data source on the Data sources page. You can choose JSON, XML or RSS, a weather forecast, or a Bluesky or Mastodon account. Then open the template editor and link the data source to the template.
Open the Data sources page and look at the status of the source. When it is errored, Nawcast could not fetch the data. Correct the address or the account and fetching resumes by itself.
Nawcast fetches new data as soon as a running display asks for it and the data is older than the refresh time of your plan. See the pricing page for the refresh time of each plan.
Displays
Open the Displays page, edit the display and change the program to run. The screen switches on its own.
There are two ways. Create a display with its own fixed link and open that link on the screen. Or open the runner on the screen, read the six-character start code it shows and enter it on the Start narrowcasting page together with the program.
Any device with a web browser: a smart TV, a small computer behind a monitor or an old laptop. There is nothing to install, and even older browsers work.
Convinced?
Since you've made it so far, why not give Nawcast a try? It's free, and you can delete your account if its not what you need.
